Xaimaca de Ricardo Güiraldes: La escritura del bibelot americano

Abstract

Based on the analysis of a typed copy of Xaimaca, with corrections made by Ricardo Güiraldes and Adelina del Carril, probably the last draft before it was sent to the printing press, this article recovers a writing process that enables us to read the patient building of an autonomous and self-sufficient aesthetics, long meditated in relation to the intellectual field surrounding the writer and laying the foundations for a literature to come. Returning to this text provides the chance to re-examine Güiraldes's place within the network of Argentinian literature
