La crítica editada. Juan María Gutiérrez y la América poética
Main Article Content
Abstract
The publication of the América poética -the first collection of Spanish-American poetry- between February 1846 and June 1847, constituted a singular event for the lettered Latin-American culture. For the first time indeed, the anthology configured an Americanist map of the poetry in Spanish, being elevated to cultural heritage and symbolic capital distinct from Spanish culture. At the same time, the anthology was a key event in Juan María Gutiérrez's critical and historiographical production. Readings of the América poética have in general been oriented to the exploration of its representative capacity. This paper, on the contrary, proposes a reading centered on the figure of the editor [an authorial -though differed- figure] and a revision of the editing practices involved by looking at the manuscript notes that Gutiérrez made on the original volume, preserved today in the Library of the National Congress in Argentina
