Abstract

The present article broadly analyzes the repertoire of shows given by performer Eusebia Cosme between 1934 and 1946, as well as the design of the printed programs of such presentations. The purpose of our analysis is to value their importance in the formation of the modern Latin American "black poetry" canon, to explore the motivations for the lexical changes produced in the attributes given to the poetry, and to study the reasons for the persistence of tensions between the categories of race and class over the period
